Not So Ditsy After All
I think it’s fair to say that make-up wipes have definitely got their pros, they’re amazing for re-doing that pesky eye-liner (once you’ve inevitably ‘flicked’ too far) and for offering a quick and easy way to remove light make-up after a long day, or heavy make-up after an even longer night. But, unfortunately, these single-use synthetic products are without a doubt extremely harmful to our planet.
Make-up wipes may remove your foundation quickly but I’m afraid to say that they, most certainly, will not biodegrade as fast. In fact, the average make-up wipe takes an alarming 100 years to decompose. Sadly, due to being single-use products, there are 3.4 billion kilograms of wipes thrown into the landfill each year, which adds up to 1.3 billion wipes each day. That's 20 million makeup wipes a day being chucked into the bin. And here comes the worst part.. brace yourself… wipes are the third most wasteful product in the world!
Now we all know that I’m not one to throw out shocking statistics without offering a solution.
This is where the Ditsy Cloth comes in.
This cruelty free, antibacterial, machine-washable make-up eraser is designed to be used again and again and again… and again. It’s ultra-soft, polyester-blend can remove the trickiest of cosmetics, even waterproof mascara. And the best part is, you just add water. Yep, you heard me. Simply wet your ditsy cloth and wipe away your make-up. It can withstand up to 1,000 machine washes which means it should last you 3-5 years. Considering that women buy on average 323 packs of single-use make-up wipes in their lifetime, it’s clear to see that with a re-usable ditsy cloth, you’ll be saving yourself a fortune.
The Review
It really does work wonders. I’ve been using this ultra-soft Ditsy Cloth for over a year now, and I can truthfully say that by simply soaking the cloth and giving your face a wipe, you will be almost completely make-up free. However, using a cotton-wool pad and make-up remover I did find some foundation residue and after a few weeks use I did notice that my skin was slightly dry (due to only using water). So all I did was add a cruelty-free moisturising facewash to my routine and BAM, my face was as clean as a whistle. The key though, is remembering to chuck it in the wash!
